It is the only active continental volcano in Europe. Currently it is in phase of quiet after the 1944 last disastrous eruption that you/he/she was characterized by abundant lava castings and issue of ash and lapilli. 
  

 
A lot of roads conduct to the Vesuvius; the easiest are those that depart from Ercolano, from Tower of the Greek and from Boscotrecase, at the end of which comfortable paths bring up to the summit, where the sight can space on the gulves of Naples and Salerno, in a scenery of intense beauty, only to the world.
